Our Heritage Story
A journey through three generations of preserving Mysore's culinary traditions
Since 1947
Mysore Traditional Cafe was founded by Shri Venkatesh Rao in 1947, just months after India's independence. What started as a small coffee stall near the Devaraja Market has grown into a beloved institution that has served generations of Mysoreans and visitors from around the world.
Our founder believed that coffee was not just a beverage, but a ritual that brought people together. He spent years perfecting the art of roasting and brewing, creating the signature blend that our cafe is famous for today.
Family Tradition
Now in its third generation, the cafe is run by the founder's grandchildren who continue to uphold the same standards of quality and authenticity.

The Art of Filter Coffee
Our time-honored brewing process
Selection & Roasting
We source premium coffee beans from Coorg and Chikmagalur, roasting them in small batches to perfection with just the right amount of chicory.
Traditional Brewing
The coffee is brewed using a traditional South Indian filter, allowing hot water to slowly drip through the grounds for hours.
Perfect Serving
The decoction is mixed with hot milk and served in the iconic steel tumbler and dabarah, creating the perfect frothy texture.
